PORTRAIT

A portrait is one of the most difficult things to paint, I think. You have to capture more than every freckle and hair. You have to capture the essence, something that brings the image to life.

Self Portrait

I completed this painting as a record. Trying to capture my life, as it was, in late 2023.

Mirror Me

🔴 2021, Oil on Canvas, 12 x 12 inch

Painted during the depths of COVID-19 this artwork captures the despair that I, perhaps all of us, felt during this time. For me, the Coronavirus came just as I was about to graduate university. All of my plans and aspirations came to a sudden halt. It was a time where I felt utterly powerless.

🔴 2020, Oil on Wood

I completed this painting as a record. Trying to capture my life, as it was, in early 2020.

Love

🔴 2018, Mixed Media, 20 x 16 inch

This painting depicts me, as a child, with my Nana and Papa. I completed this painting a couple days after my Nana passed away. I poured all my love for her into this artwork. The overall image looks very “story book” and reminds me of sitting on my Papa’s lap as he reads to me.

Butler

🔴 2018, Charcoal, 12 x 12 inch

Very rarely do I sit down and complete an artwork in one go. Usually there is a bit of second-guessing myself. However, after my dog passed away I was so overcome with emotion that this painting practically created itself. Butler was my best friend, and although he had a bit of a temper, he could do no wrong.
